Lace

I'm going to have to start taking photos earlier in the day soon, as it's already starting to get darker in the evenings (summer has definitely finished no doubt about it).  Personally, I love winter but hate Autumn. There's never much happening and it justs rains all the time!

. Is anyone heading off to London Fashion Week this weekend? I was very lucky to receive an invite to the Holly Fulton show on Saturday and to the Kilian Kerner presentation on Friday. Has anyone been to a LFW presentation before? ...I'm not sure whether it's worth travelling all the way into London for? Anyway, I'm pretty excited to see the catwalk show (well, as much of it as I can at my height...I've got a standing ticket, of course) and I'll be sure to feedback on it at some point. 

I was thinking about wearing this dress on Saturday. I bought it recently at a car boot sale and picked it up for the bargain price of £3 - pretty pleased with that! I don't own a lace dress and I thought it would be perfect for the winter months so I just had to buy it. It's quite a unique style and I love everything about it, from the collar, to the bows, to the slightly high waist line. I definitely wish I had some better heels to go with it though... maybe some Jeffrey Campbells or these, these, or these

Lace and frills

I've been so lazy with blogging recently (I hate that guilty feeling you get when the number of unread blog posts keeps increasing) but I'll get back into the swing of it soon. I've now set up an online shop to sell some of my clothes, so you can now buy from either there or still from my Asos Marketplace. I'm still trying to save up as much holiday money as possible so I'd be very grateful if you could take a look if you haven't already (sorry to keep asking). Also, if you have any suggestions or ideas of what else you want to see in my shop, I'd love to know! 

On another note, if any of you are artists or have a strong obsession with anything Doctor Who/LOTR/Harry Potter/Sherlock etc. then take a look at my friend, Megan's, new blog. I am extremely jealous of her drawing talent (she drew a picture of me and my friends as a birthday present - so amazing!) and she also does really cool speed drawing videos which you can see here.

So today I'm wearing my new top from New Look. I love how it can be worn layered over other items rather than just paired with a skirt. New Look is definitely the best place to buy tops like this as they're not too pricey and are quite basic (which seems to be the best option due to the limited amount of warm weather in this country). I'm wearing a lace dress underneath this, which I bought about 3 years ago at the Birmingham Clothes Show. I really should wear it more but I'm not that keen on the top half anymore so this outfit seems to be the way forward.

Purple

First of all, look at my fancy reflection skills! I keep seeing this everywhere so I thought I'd try it out myself. Onto the actual outfit...I made this dress on Saturday afternoon. This is actually the first thing I've properly made from scratch (apart from my Textiles final) since Christmas. I'm the biggest procrastinator ever so rather than wasting time attempting but not actually doing work, I decided this dress would be a better use of my time. After I made it, I actually felt an increased motivation to work harder for my schoolwork. Perhaps I've discovered the key to preventing procrastination: do something you've been wanting to do for a while and then focus on your work afterwards - it works, trust me!.

So, I  made the dress using some fabric I got as a present for my birthday. The print is so lovely and I really like how it contrasts with the sleeves (which were made from some white curtain netting). I'm actually really pleased with the dress (unusual for me). It reminds me of the ones you can get from Yayer or Choies (but instead I saved about £40 of my money by making it myself).

Make a dress out of a shirt and some tights...

Firstly, I'd like to say thank you to all of the followers and readers of my blog! I recently found out I'd reached 100 GFC followers - something I never thought I'd do when I started out my blog a few months ago - so thank you for the support!

Secondly, today I gave myself a break from homework (this seems to happen alot!) to create this post for you. As you can probably tell from the title, I managed to create a dress out of an old shirt and a pair of tights. The shirt (My Dad's old one), although the pattern and fabric doesn't exactly appeal to me, I used as the base for the dress. I think mixed with another fabric such as the lace I used,  the pattern is toned down a bit and actually looks really good. The white lace tights were too big for me so decided I had to use them for this. 

                          

1. First, I cut off the sleeves from the shirt and made any adjustments needed to the size, length etc.

2. Then I cut the tights. All I had to do was cut off the ends and simply attach this to the sleeves.

3. I then used the left over lace from the waistband of the tights to add to the collar. I like how it's slightly gathered here. 

4. I could also die or bleach the bottom of the shirt If I wanted to add some more colour to it.

Not so inspiring outfit for a rainy Monday, but it couldn`t wait for some sunny days to come. ;) You already know that boho is one of my favorite styles, which i showed you in my , probably the first outfit post (click Here, and feel free to laugh ;)) .Leather cross body bag with chains, lace dress, boots on a bare legs, and lots of small jewelery pieces, colored bracelets, feather earrings, and turquoise nail polish. Me likey!

Linen and Lace...

Now I don't know about you, but I can never resist linen... I don't care what form it comes in or how wrinkly it gets- I just want to surround myself with it all. the. time. It reminds me of my mom (a fellow linen junkie!), of Europe, and of glamour... Not a bad combination, huh? Throw in some lace, and you've got yourself a sartorial good time, am I right?
