{DIY} AiF for Boohoo Studded Top...

When Boohoo offered to team up on a fun t-shirt DIY, I was beyond excited — Not only do I love the brand (this shirt is beyond cozy), but you know I'm always down for a little DIY action. The kit they sent over included all kinds of goodies — like puffy paint and jumbo rhinestones — but since I'm on a "less is more" kick these days, I opted for some subtle studding instead. The result? A shirt I'll be rocking for years to come.

{Style} The Wonder Years...

I'm not sure if Kevin ever gave Winnie his varsity jacket back at McKinley High — or if he even wore varsity jackets, for that matter — but since I keep meaning to rewatch The Wonder Years (I'm currently deep in Felicity and Buffy the Vampire Slayer land), the title just felt right. I mean, can you think of anything more quintessentially "high school" than a varsity jacket? I keep picturing the Wakefield sisters (or some other stereotypical teen dream) running around in their boyfriends' oversized jackets looking all cute and popular... But as someone who had neither the boyfriend nor the varsity jacket in high school, the closest I can get is this Forever 21 version I bought for myself well into adulthood... Hey, it's never too late. xx

{Style} Classic Camo...

I've been a very busy bee lately, which hasn't left much time for things like proper nutrition, nails that are unchipped and, well, blog musings that are halfway interesting. In fact, I'm pretty sure I'm sleep-typing this very post. Yawn. To quit while I'm ahead (read: semi-conscious), I'll leave you with this one realization: I've never met a print combination that I haven't liked. Camo and leopard? Bring it on. The only thing that could top this would be some sweet geometric or polka dot action... Or preferably both. The busier the better, unless you're talking about my life, in which case I revert back to my original statement — You know, something about malnourishment, ugly nails, and... zzzz

Wardrobe Wednesday...

I don't know if you guys remember, but when I moved back to Edmonton last summer I somehow lost a box filled with all my favourite jewelry... So after tearing apart my house (and getting my mom to do the same in Victoria), I finally came to terms with the fact that it was gone... Forever.

Heartbroken, I tried to move on by treating myself to some new baubles, but the memory of my three favourite necklaces haunted me... Until one fateful day when I was looking for some shoes to wear, and unsuspectingly opened a box to find — joy of joys — my long lost jewelry! Eeeek! Needless to say, screaming ensued and I've been wearing my old favourites ever since... Things just have a funny way of working out, huh?

Now I don't know about you, but I can never resist linen... I don't care what form it comes in or how wrinkly it gets- I just want to surround myself with it all. the. time. It reminds me of my mom (a fellow linen junkie!), of Europe, and of glamour... Not a bad combination, huh? Throw in some lace, and you've got yourself a sartorial good time, am I right?

Wardrobe Wednesday...

As you can probably tell, I'm an insanely huge fan of Moon Raven Designs. I first gushed about them here, many Wardrobe Wednesdays ago, when I got my raven skull necklace. I've worn it non-stop since then (revelling in its Pamela Love-esque glory), and have dreamed of all the pieces I'd like to eventually add to my collection... So you can imagine my delight when Mr. AIF surprised me with their brass claw necklace for my birthday! What a guy!

I love the design and level of edge it gives my otherwise girlie ensembles, plus it always attracts so much attention... Is that a claw? people gawk as they lean in to appraise it closely. Why yes, yes it is, I beam. Not that I'm an attention hog or anything (quite the opposite, really), but it's nice to wear something that gets so much love, you know? Plus it's a compliment to Mr. AIF's gift-giving abilities... No matter how you look at it, all signs point to winning.

Playing Dress-Up...

So after about a year, I finally broke down and got a haircut... Nothing drastic, but just enough to make me feel a little off, you know? Especially when you consider "hair shock," that pesky period right after a cut when your hair refuses to cooperate with you. How rude.

Now I don't know about you, but whenever I feel a little down I find it helps to dress up... Do you guys ever feel that way? Even though it was drizzling out, I decided to pair a Forever 21 dress I hadn't worn in ages (last seen here) with my favourite Rachel Rachel Roy vest. Yup, that's what I wore. To Costco. On a Sunday afternoon. No biggie...

What do you guys do when you feel down? We should form some kind of support group or something... I'll bring the ice cream! :p

Weekend Warrior...

Do you guys have a weekend uniform? I do. And in case you couldn't tell, it largely consists of comfy dresses (or skirts) and vests... I don't know why, but that seems to be what I gravitate towards at the end of the week. Now don't get me wrong, jeans and a basic tee regularly make appearances on lazy Saturday mornings, but lately I seem to be all about the dress/vest combo... *shrug*
