Knit

These photos didn't come out the best unfortunately due to the bad lighting. It's annoying how early it's getting dark at the moment. I really have to rush to take photos as soon as I get back from sixth form, though I guess I could try and organise myself a bit better with weekend photos (which reminds me, I'll have a gatsby-ish outfit coming up soon). Anyway, the shirt is something which I have shown here already. It's a great piece to mix and match with but is obviously a lot more appropriate for the warmer months. I've been making a fair amount of use out of my Topshop skirt (I saw it in the sale though for something like £10 the other day - a lot cheaper than what I paid). The cardigan is something I found on ebay over a year ago (around the £3/£4 mark). It's a lot more worn out now unfortunately and the sleeves are covered in oil paint but it's still useful to cover up and keep warm.

How was your weekend? What have you been wearing in Autumn?

Pink and Purple

I've joined tumblr and my link is above for those who are interested. I'm using it mainly just for collecting images of fashion and as a sort of addition to pinterest, so my use of it could vary a lot. Leave your links below so I can check out yours!
I feel as if I'm running out of outfit ideas at the moment and have run out of clothes (if that's possible!). I've been buying a few things on ebay but they're mainly going out dresses (which I will show you in the next couple of months) so I'll have to find some more cheap day clothes to re-inspire me. Anyway, I've chosen to do an Autumn version of an outfit that I showed in the summer. The dress was something that I made with the most wonderful fabric and influenced by something I saw in Topshop at the time. I've paired it with a plain white t-shirt here which makes it feel a lot more casual and also keeps you warmer in these temperatures! I really like it with the pearls and boots as well for a pretty yet edgy look.

What do you think of my outfit? What have you been wearing lately?

Hair and Beauty

I am back to blogging (as in posting) but I still need to get around to catching up on everyone else's blogs. I've got quite a lot going on at the moment so I promise after next week I'll be right on it! I might start organising my time better and giving myself more time for blog reading as I really should/would like to do more of that. I might go on a bit of a blog hunt as well and find a few newbies to add to my collection!
I haven't really talked much about hair and makeup on my blog as it's not really my 'thing' as it were, but I thought I'd step aside from the fashion slightly for this post. I'm in that phase at the moment where I really want to do something different with my hair, do you ever get that? Uh huh...well...every year or so this happens to me. I never end up changing anything drastic (...ever!) but I'll spend my time collecting images of how I wish my hair could be if I could do anything. So below are an assortment of hair and makeup ideas that I've collected recently....

Homemade dress

I've finished all of my exams now so I've got a week of literally doing nothing until I start A2- so happy! Plus, the sun's out which makes it so much better (22 degrees next Saturday apparently).
So, this is the dress that I made recently. I'm really pleased with it because it's quite a complicated design. The fact that there's loads of different sections (8 to be precise) on the top means that it's actually quite a difficult design to make compared to some of the other things I've created and it's definitely good practice trying out something new. I saw this dress in Topshop recently and decided that I'd make a variation of it (the fabric was from Southall and only cost £2 per metre!) rather than spend more money. Usually when making my clothes, I just really quickly and easily make a pattern using my mannequin but this design actually required a level of skill to work it out. It's actually really interesting figuring out how this sort of style is made (well, it is to me anyway!). Anyway enough of me talking about sewing stuff. (By the way, please excuse my white legs in these photos. I'm not wearing any tights and my legs haven't seen the sun in about 9 months).

Are you enjoying the nice weather? What do you think of my dress?

Giveaway!

I have amazingly managed to reach 350 followers on GFC (never thought so many people would be interested in my blog when I first started) so I've decided to thank everyone by hosting this giveaway!
So what can you win?
I am giving away 2 prizes:
 - the dress below - the dress is originally from Rare. It has no size label but I would say it could fit UK sizes 6-10. I've styled it quite formally here but it's also great worn casually for the summer or for a more edgy look with black boots/shoes.
 - the bag below - I am so glad I found this lovely bag. It's a perfect size for taking on a night out and has a really stunning gold shoulder strap. How could anyone not love this bag!?

How do you enter?
 - Simply follow the instructions below

The giveaway will run for 3 weeks. Good luck!

Sophisticated

I wanted to show off my new jacket today - it's Versace! It was a birthday present, which was going to be thrown away (I know, why would you throw it away?!) and sold but was instead given to me to use. The fur is incredibly soft and I love the colour of it (even though I'm not usually one for pink). Another wonderful birthday present was the heels. I am falling in love with them already. They're brilliant since they add that extra height and oomph to an outfit yet aren't extremely big and chunky. The necklace was also a present - given to me by a friend. I'm not used to styling outfits with smaller pieces of jewellery but I actually really love how this looks.

Pink

I received this vintage dress from a family member and I decided to modify it a bit. It originally had no top button so I added this in (so lucky I had one the right colour at the time), and I also added the studs in. It's a very lightweight dress and I can definitely see myself wearing it a lot in the summer. The jacket thing (what should I call it?...vest?) was originally my Mum's. I used to wear it a lot but it shrunk in the wash and I'd completely forgotten I had it. It's definitely a great piece for sprucing up an outfit and the beading is so wonderful. I've been experimenting a bit with my photos lately and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do them - what do you think of this selection?
