When temperatures drop, I like to add bright layers and beautiful accessories to the mix to dull the pain of yet another winter. Pops of red, plaid and leather galore is the name of the game this time of year, so here are a few of my current favourites (including these delicious boots from Dr. Martens). What are your winter go-tos? xx

Winter Blues

The only thing that's been going through my head the last couple of weeks is my portfolio for art foundation and my textiles final piece. I'm so excited to start making my final dress and show it to all of you (in hopefully a fantasy themed photoshoot) at the end of December. It's quite hard to believe that all of this work for the past 6 months or so has been leading up to just 12 hours of actual making work, but I hope it paid off! As for the portfolio, I've got to start putting all of my best work together for my application as soon as possible so I've been racking my brains for original ideas. What have you all been doing recently?

Normally I don't show outfit posts that I've actually been wearing the day I post them but I genuinely did wear this today! The dress is from Topshop which I bought years ago. It's a great simple piece to layer with though the colour can be a bit tricky. I made the jumper last year and I showed it in this post when it snowed (Have you heard the rumours about the snow that's coming to the UK?). I find it quite stressful wearing tights and having to match the right pair to an outfit (other people must surely feel the same?) and I've ended up becoming a bit boring and have been lacking courage to go for anything over than a simple black/grey pair. I'm sure you are all fed up of seeing my studded boots by now...I've already started thinking about shoes for Spring though! I definitely feel like my styling has been pretty bad recently and I'm not very happy with my outfit posts (and as I'm trying to save my money for Christmas time I've not had the chance to buy anything new) so I'm hoping my current wardrobe boredom will cure itself soon and that I don't bore all of you in the meantime!

What do you think of my outfit?

You know how much I love boots and here is the newest addition to my shoe family! :)
Isabel Marant pour H&M flat, suede boots which are the exactly the same model from her regular collection (model Crisi) but without hidden wedge.
Do you like it?

p.s. the only downside of these lovely ladies are that they have very slippery sole, but it can be easily fixed :)

These photos didn't come out the best unfortunately due to the bad lighting. It's annoying how early it's getting dark at the moment. I really have to rush to take photos as soon as I get back from sixth form, though I guess I could try and organise myself a bit better with weekend photos (which reminds me, I'll have a gatsby-ish outfit coming up soon). Anyway, the shirt is something which I have shown here already. It's a great piece to mix and match with but is obviously a lot more appropriate for the warmer months. I've been making a fair amount of use out of my Topshop skirt (I saw it in the sale though for something like £10 the other day - a lot cheaper than what I paid). The cardigan is something I found on ebay over a year ago (around the £3/£4 mark). It's a lot more worn out now unfortunately and the sleeves are covered in oil paint but it's still useful to cover up and keep warm.

How was your weekend? What have you been wearing in Autumn?

P.S. If you're interested, I've added some new items to my shop

Pink and Purple

I've joined tumblr and my link is above for those who are interested. I'm using it mainly just for collecting images of fashion and as a sort of addition to pinterest, so my use of it could vary a lot. Leave your links below so I can check out yours!
I feel as if I'm running out of outfit ideas at the moment and have run out of clothes (if that's possible!). I've been buying a few things on ebay but they're mainly going out dresses (which I will show you in the next couple of months) so I'll have to find some more cheap day clothes to re-inspire me. Anyway, I've chosen to do an Autumn version of an outfit that I showed in the summer. The dress was something that I made with the most wonderful fabric and influenced by something I saw in Topshop at the time. I've paired it with a plain white t-shirt here which makes it feel a lot more casual and also keeps you warmer in these temperatures! I really like it with the pearls and boots as well for a pretty yet edgy look.

What do you think of my outfit? What have you been wearing lately?

Blue and White

I'm off to Kingston open day on Saturday which should be interesting. It's my first open day as I've only got 3 Unis to go and look around in total (... since I've decided to do an Art foundation course somewhere local) and am going to be visiting UCA soon as well. Is anyone looking at/have been to these unis? or have done an Art Foundation course? I'd love your opinions! All of this thinking about the future kind of makes me forget what I'm doing now though... (I should probably do some coursework after this bit of procrastination).

Onto my outfit, and I'm wearing a dress I bought on ebay over a year ago. I adjusted it a bit and decided to take the sleeves off in the end as I felt they looked a bit too baggy. It's quite a summery dress (obviously not the weather for it) but I wanted to show you something completely unseen.

What do you think?  How is school/uni/work going?

Vintage Blazer

While I was out in London on Saturday, I also did a bit of vintage shopping and bought this blazer. I've been looking for a blazer for a while now and after browsing continuously on ebay I felt it would be better to actually try it on before buying one. I really like the one I chose and it's going to be perfect for staying warm in the colder months (especially since my previous winter coat is now ruined by oil paint - anyone know any magical removal tricks?). I'm wearing my blazer here with my paisley dress (£2 from ebay) and my boots (also from ebay - you can buy them here).

What do you think of my new coat? How is your week going?

100th post!

I've been blogging now for about 10 months (how time flies!) and I've finally reached my 100th post. I'd never have thought a year ago that blogging would become one of my favourite things to do and I'd spend my spare time browsing through outfit posts and wish lists constantly! Saying this, I've actually been pretty rubbish at the moment (I use my time so inefficiently it's ridiculous) and still have lots to catch up on! On the bright side though, dress making has been going well and I'm looking forward to posting some items on my shop soon.
So for this outfit, I brought out a shirt I actually haven't shown on my blog before. I've had it for ages (another from my Grandma's wardrobe) and it's one of my favourites. It's so easy to wear and can be easily paired with a skirt, such as the one below. The skirt is from Topshop and can also be seen in this post here

Please note: Any nail polish fanatics look away now!

Return of the boots

I hope everyone's having a good week. I've been dumped with a load of coursework so I better make this quick and then catch up on TV continue with my work.
Firstly, the dress is one I've had for a long time and only tend to wear during the summer, as as you can see it's quite strappy and light. The print is really lovely though and is definitely something that deserves to be worn more often. I've paired it with a DIY mesh top. I'm pretty sure everyone now has come across the tutorial on how to make your own top out of a pair of tights. Well, if you haven't, it's really easy and definitely a must do (just cut out a triangle in the middle and cut off the ends of the legs and you have yourself a top!). It's definitely a good way to make use out of your old tights or those which are unusable due to ladders and holes (I have plenty of these!). My top's not that neat as I did it quite roughly but if you're a bit of a perfectionist then if you cut the edges slightly neater you can avoid any messy parts. I'm currently deliberating over whether to cut a pair of my Bora Aksu tights (see here) in this way. What do you think? I have my ebay boots on again. I'm so happy I made the purchase a few months ago as I've made a lot of use out of them and I'm still finding them useful even in the warmer weather.  I don't normally mention my jewellery in my posts as often it's just something I've found in my drawer that I've collected at some point in my life, no change in this post. I've been wearing beaded necklaces a lot recently, simply because they're super easy to wear and go with absolutely anything.

What do you think of my outfit? Is anyone heading off to any festivals soon? (so jealous if you are!)

Black and white

I'm devastated that Google Reader is shutting down and although there seems to be a bit of confusion over Google Friend Connect, I'm sure that won't be staying much longer either. I'm determined to continue using Google Reader until the very last day (July 1st) but after that I'll probably have to transfer over to Bloglovin. I'd hate to lose all of you as readers so if you want to follow me on Bloglovin you can do that here or transfer all of your Google Reader subscriptions by clicking here. There are also loads of other RSS readers which you can join - let me know if you find any good ones.
I'm wearing a dress that was a birthday present (originally from Yayer). I've wanted a dress with shoulder cut outs for a while so I was excited to receive this dress. It's also very handy having a monochrome checkered dress (I don't think I've ever owned one) and it could be very useful to wear in the summer. I don't think I've shown you these boots yet, even though I've had them since before Christmas. They were from New Look for around about £20 and have gold stud-like things down the side (which you can't tell from these photos). The necklaces include my usual pearl and chain necklace and the red and blue necklace (a Christmas present). My bracelet was a birthday present from one of my friends.
