I was lucky enough to be included in FASHION Magazine's winter issue, sporting my take on holiday-wear with this flirty Loft 82 dress. To be honest, I would gladly take shimmering gold fabrics, patent heels and pretty pearls any day of the week, but during the holiday season they feel all the more alluring... Kind of like crushed velvet and eggnog, but I digress.

A BIG thank you to the magazine for including me (my mom is ecstaaaatic), and be sure to check out the issue in stores now! Page 216 — errr, what? Who said that? xx

Gatsby

This was my outfit from a party on saturday. It was 1920's Gatsby themed! My dress isn't completely in theme but it's gold and has a big bow (plus it was £6) so I thought why not!. The photos were taken at my friend's house so they don't have the usual background and unfortunately some of them are a bit blurry (I really should have taken some more of the back and the lovely bow). In total my outfit cost £10 (my dress is from ebay and so are my shoes).

How is your week going? What do you think of my outfit?

Pastel

A brand new outfit for you today. I bought the skirt on ebay for £4 but it's originally from Motel . I'm really pleased with it overall (nice pattern, very versatile and fits well - what more could I ask for!?). The heels were another ebay purchase (this time for £5). They're quite unique in their style with the buckle strap around the sides and the gold heel, plus they fit perfectly which always helps! Finally, the top is one of my Mum's old tops that was given to me (which I love the colour of!).

What do you think of my outfit? Have you made any ebay purchases recently?

Blue and White

I'm off to Kingston open day on Saturday which should be interesting. It's my first open day as I've only got 3 Unis to go and look around in total (... since I've decided to do an Art foundation course somewhere local) and am going to be visiting UCA soon as well. Is anyone looking at/have been to these unis? or have done an Art Foundation course? I'd love your opinions! All of this thinking about the future kind of makes me forget what I'm doing now though... (I should probably do some coursework after this bit of procrastination).

Onto my outfit, and I'm wearing a dress I bought on ebay over a year ago. I adjusted it a bit and decided to take the sleeves off in the end as I felt they looked a bit too baggy. It's quite a summery dress (obviously not the weather for it) but I wanted to show you something completely unseen.

What do you think?  How is school/uni/work going?

Giveaway!

I have amazingly managed to reach 350 followers on GFC (never thought so many people would be interested in my blog when I first started) so I've decided to thank everyone by hosting this giveaway!
So what can you win?
I am giving away 2 prizes:
 - the dress below - the dress is originally from Rare. It has no size label but I would say it could fit UK sizes 6-10. I've styled it quite formally here but it's also great worn casually for the summer or for a more edgy look with black boots/shoes.
 - the bag below - I am so glad I found this lovely bag. It's a perfect size for taking on a night out and has a really stunning gold shoulder strap. How could anyone not love this bag!?

How do you enter?
 - Simply follow the instructions below

The giveaway will run for 3 weeks. Good luck!

Gold Roses

I used to wear variations of this outfit all of the time a while ago and I'd forgotten how much I loved it. The jacket was something that used to be in my Mum's wardrobe and has now added to my collection. It's such a lovely stand out piece. Underneath this, I'm wearing a blue top which is actually just a cardigan turned the wrong way around. I haven't worn it this way for a while (it's been far too cold) but it's a great piece for layering and adds a bit of colour to an outfit. The skirt, I bought on eBay (adjustments had to be made of course) for only £5. I also delved deep into my wardrobe today to find a pair of skin-coloured tights that weren't broken or laddered (miraculously I did!). I'm starting to get fed up of my usual grey or black tights so this better, sunnier weather is definitely a good thing for that!
What do you think of my outfit? What items have you been wearing lately?

Blue Sunset...

Happy Chinese New Year everyone! I'm off to celebrate the year of the snake tonight. It's a tradition in our family to go to the same Chinese restaurant in London every year to have a meal. This is what I'm going to be wearing (minus the heels). The dress is a vintage piece given to me by a family member. The only modification I made was to shorten it so that I could wear it during the day. The fabric is really great quality and has a lovely feel to it which you can't really tell from these photos. The top half is great and the frilly part definitely adds a bit of interest and uniqueness to the dress. The bottom half is pleated and looks great without the belt as well as with. The belt was given to me by my grandmother. I love how it completely changes the outfit here. What do you think of my dress?
By the way, sorry about the quality of the photos. I would have taken them outside but it was pouring with rain (what do you expect from England?!).

Rings and things

I found these two images recently that inspired me to write this post. I love the photography in both of them and the way that each highlights the jewellery as the main feature. Often in fashion photos you look at the clothes or the model so it's unusual to find photos like these. The rings below are really cool and it reminds me that I need more for myself!

I really love this look (above). I think what's great about it is that the shirt is very masculine but the outfit is made more feminine by the necklaces and the pearls. It also has a very antique feel.

I currently only have 2 rings (one from New Look and one from Topshop), though I love them both! My favourite kind of jewellery at the moment is gold - anything that's gold and has a edgy kind of feel is great. The great thing is that it can go with anything - literally anything!

My new necklace (River Island). I bought it just the other day but haven't actually worn it yet. It's such a statement necklace I wanted the first time I wore it to be a special occasion where I dress up so I'm planning to wear it to the school's christmas party. I really love how this looks with the shirt and collar in these photos .

I bought this necklace while on holiday in Egypt. It's more of a summer necklace so I haven't worn it much recently but it's definitely coming out when it get's to spring (at least).

My big collection of beaded/pearl necklaces. Most of these I've acquired from my mum, grandma etc. Although I did make the blue one. I always seem to have at least one of these on every day.

This one I also bought on holiday. I used to wear it all the time but don't wear it as much now. I really love the colour though since it stands out so much.

The gold necklace here I literally wear all of the time. It's so useful to just throw on and can instantly make an outfit look better. I got it ages ago (I can't even remember where from - that's an unusual occurence!) and it is actually falling apart slightly but I'm not going to throw it away!
The second one was a present from a friend.

Two of my favourite bracelets here. The white one was bought on holiday and the silver is actually one of those clever bracelet things. You can change it's shape and it can be a necklace or a bracelet or whatever you want. It used to be my mum's but she didn't want it anymore.

I've collected this assortment of bangles throughout my whole life and they're from various differnet places. I don't tend to wear bangles too much because they make a lot of noise (and it can be quite annoying walking around and everytime you lift your arm it makes a noise) but I really should wear them more.

Although it sound crazy this is actually a candle holder (or some kind of thing that goes around the candle?). It actually looks like a proper bracelet and it's carrying on my theme of gold so that's always good!
