{Style} Winter Walk...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Well my friends, it's Christmas Eve and I have an overwhelming urge to recite the lyrics to that adorably annoying Three Chipmunks song for you all... Luckily for you I know better than to do that, but I can't make any promises about Feliz Navidad — what, it's super catchy.

In other news, I'm totally obsessed with my new necklace from Sira & Mara USA, faux leather skirts from the past (remember this post?) and avoiding snow like the plague... Now that I'm back home for the holidays (and snow free, thank you very much) all that icky white stuff is but a distant memory. In a week's time, however, I'll be miserably braving the elements for outfit photos once again like in this post... Man, I don't know about you but I'm cold just looking at it!

Anyway, hope you guys have a nice, relaxing day no matter what you get up to, and in preparation for tomorrow, "I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart." Hey, I warned you.

{Style} Getting Thrifty With It...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Although I have much respect for those who can sift through heaps of vintage or second hand clothing and come up with enviable ensembles, I'm just not one of those people. Now don't get me wrong, I have serious love for vintage accessories and may be known to buy the occasional vintage silk blouse from time to time, but clothing just isn't my thing. So when my local newspaper challenged me to put together a thrifted, head-to-toe look for under $50, I suited up and — in my very best Barney Stinson voice — proclaimed "challenge accepted."

What I thought would take several hours and numerous stops surprisingly only took about 30 minutes, in which time I was able to score a sweet leather skirt, peach blouse, black wedges and chain necklace (above), as well as a velvet dress (yes, velvet), plaid shirt and braided belt to boot... Not bad if I say so myself!

You can read more about my experience here, and stay tuned to see how Marie and Andrew fare in their upcoming thrifting challenges... Happy Friday! xx

Safari Chic...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Nothing says safari chic quite like a military vest and leopard print, but as stoked as I was to channel my inner Indiana Jones, I thought it best to neutralize things with a mint dress and girlie accessories... After all, we wouldn't want to over do anything, now would we?

And in other news, I'm seriously smitten with this Forever 21 necklace. I bought it for pretty much no money (gotta love that!) and instantly fell in love with its vintage vibe... Hey, sometimes a girl just needs a cheap repro to tide her over, am I right?

Happy Tuesday, lovebugs! xx

Yellow...

I still can't get enough of these H&M pants, even though I've practically worn them a million times before. This time, I paired them with a simple yellow blouse that offered ample ventilation (what can I say, it's hot!), as well as an old pair of sandals that had been seriously neglected lately. And with a little light accessorizing, I was out the door... Easy-peasy.

Thanks for reading, lovelies! xx

Light Bright...

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Bonjour! I thought I would go for a little in-your-face colour blocking today to brighten things up... You likey? I hadn't worn this dress in a while, and this blazer has been the apple of my eye since I bought it a few weeks ago, so pairing the two felt like a no-brainer... After all, the brighter the better, right? Tah for now, darlings! xx

Remember when I went thrifting last week? Well a few of you asked me to show you what I actually bought that day, not just the kooky things I tried on... Ask and you shall receive, my friends!

The first thing is something you've already seen, but probably didn't realize at the time. Figured it out yet? That's right, it's the "80's fuchsia" vest from my last post! I pretty much died when I saw it; the colour is amazing and so is the cut- like one of the Golden Girls (Blanche, of course) went on a safari. Too much detail? Fine, I'll move on...

The second thing I bought was a vintage Coro necklace... Isn't it pretty? I love the red resin leaves and how they look wrapped around the neck. And the best part? This little collectable was only $3.99! Not that I'm bragging or anything ;)

Finally, I left Value Village with a delightfully pleated purple maxi (say that five times fast!), which you'll be seeing more of tomorrow... Get this, I was actually planning on going to American Apparel to get another maxi when I found this one for a fraction of the price ($7.99)! I can officially die a happy girl.

And although I didn't buy these shoes at VV that day, I wanted to show you my latest footwear acquisition nonetheless. I bought these BCBG sandals at Winners, get this, ON SALE! A sale on sale priced merchandise; it doesn't get much better than that. I practically skipped out of the store, that's how happy I was. And in case you were wondering, I scored these bad boys for only $40. Life is good, my friends...

Hello lovelies, happy friday! What did you guys get up to last night? Judging from the pictures above, it's probably pretty clear what I did... went thrifting!

There's nothing greater than a good thrift-sesh, and no one better to share it with than my dear friend Jen... Isn't she lovely? She did most of the photo taking, but check her out in that 90s green suede blazer: aaaa-mazing! I was super disappointed when she didn't end up buying it because it was seriously made for her... *sigh*

I myself always gravitate towards pieces from the 80s/90s (surprise, surprise), and couldn't resist trying on a "Magic Moments" blazer (that's seriously the brand!), a cropped red suede jacket with shoulder pads galore, and a buttery oversized jacket that Jen affectionately referred to as a "creamsicle." Throw in some fun shoes (metallic gold loafers anyone?) and a cute home accessory, and you've got yourself a rocking Thursday night! xx

I decided to spend my afternoon off thrifting and antiquing today, which is pretty much my all-time favourite passtime... My first stop was Value Village, and although it was nowhere near as fabulous as the one in Victoria, I still managed to scoop up a couple of scores. I've been on the hunt for a pair of vintage cowboy boots for ages now, so you can imagine how psyched I was to find these powder blue leather boots for a mere $7.99! Woot woot! They're super comfy and in great condition, which makes me a very happy girl... Next I found a red plaid blanket, ideal for cuddling up on the couch or picnicing in the summer, and for only $2.99, it was waaay to cute to resist. I also picked up a forest green snakeskin belt there, as well as a just-for-fun ring in honour of my new province... And all for under $15, might I add! Man, I love thrifting.

Next I stopped at an antique mall, where I had to seriously restrain myself from buying all their incredible collectables! I managed to be good though, and only bought an Italian glass vase in a gorgeously vivid blue (the photo doesn't do it justice), as well as a matte white Kaiser vase that's the perfect addition to my little collection... Double fist pump! All in all, a perfect afternoon...

So I know I do this a lot, but I can't help it... I just love sharing thrifting finds with you way too much! And this, let me tell you, is a good one. I found this leather clutch at a Salvation Army about a year ago, and it was love at first sight. I die for all things 80's, so naturally the allure of this bag was palpable. And just imagine my excitement in discovering that not only was this clutch amazingly rad and in perfect condition, but it was vintage Stuart Weitzman to boot! As an avid bag collector (see: hoarder), I was in blissful heaven... Who says material objects can't bring happiness?

adventures in thrifting...

As my Twitter followers already know, I was fortunate enough to score BIG TIME during my last thrifting adventure. Luckily for me, my local Value Village is a serious goldmine, and is conveniently located a mere two blocks from my place of employment... can you guess how I spend my lunch breaks? Anyway, after a particularly frustrating day at work, I decided to blow off some steam with a light shopping session. To say that the experience was cathartic would be a gross understatement, for the moment I spotted this little beauty, all my sorrows simply melted away... I'm a huuuuge lover of accessories, and I collect far more bags, belts and jewels than I can ever seem to store, so you can imagine my excitement in finding a Moschino Junior leather belt in pristine condition for a mere $5.99! I practically skipped around the store, reveling in my good fortune as the thrift store Gods smiled down upon me. Talk about retail therapy...
