{Wardrobe Wednesday} Lips Rings

This Wardrobe Wednesday features a save or splurge component which doesn't quite apply to me because — let's face it — I had to go be all greedy and buy both. To be fair, I ordered the CC Skye version online before I knew Forever 21 carried a fun, Lulu Frost-inspired version for a fraction of the price. Woe is me. Regardless, I felt the need to have both. Because really, after shelling out over 100 big ones for a trend item, what's five more.

The verdict? Despite the aforementioned trend (read: fleeting) nature of the design, I actually much prefer the CC Skye version. It's smaller, more streamlined and far more flattering to wear, translating to 20x more use than it's inexpensive counterpart... So on a cost-per-wear basis, the CC Skye version is actually a way better deal, right? Oh come on, humour me.

{Shopping} Three To Love

For those of us who view shopping as a competitive sport (you know who you are), there's no greater thrill than getting lost in a great online store... Sometimes that involves pajamas and ice cream in bed (who said that?), while other times it means copious amounts of links sent to your bff in the middle of the night for a second option. I recently got lost on the Harrods website, discovering new-to-me labels and old, drool-inducing favourites. Right off the bat, I fell in love with their Pinko, McQ Alexander McQueen and Just Cavalli offerings, dreaming up outfits (as one does) and building quite the wish list (don't tell Mr. AiF!). Here are a few of my favourite combos — Let the shopping begin!

Paris instagram guide: Where to shop? ...

Just around the corner from our hotel, gorgeous Westin Vendome Paris (I will tell you more about it soon) we found cute Pierre Herme store. Probably the best macarons ever, so we decided to have our snack time here, get some energy and continue to our next goal.

After a short taxi ride (oops, it was cold), we arrived at well known Galeries Lafayette. Magnificent place will leave you speechless but trust me, a lots of tourists will quickly make you to change your mind. Despite that fact, we gave our best to enjoy in great brands, clothes, bags, jewelry,shoes and of course super cute books. You should not miss the view from the roof terrace and snap couple of photos! ;)

A few steps away, you will find Printemps, a department store which is more modern and sophisticated with better picks for every brand. Under that gorgeous cupola at the top floor, the Brasserie Printemps is hiding a perfect place for a short break before you continue torturing yourself with all that beautiful clothes! ;) At the lowest level, you can find also a cute place Cojean, where you can refresh yourself with their healthy food and snacks!

When you are in Paris, you gotta visit that famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées, act a little bit crazy and sit at Laduree for brunch! Buy something which is photogenic instead of being yummy and continue the tour! ;) Despite I really liked this beautiful Avenue, it was more than crowded with tons of tourists at one place, so I can't recommend it  for a peaceful shopping. Anyway, it is worth seeing!

AVENUE des CHAMPS-ÉLYSÉES, 75008 Paris

Next stop on our tour is also well known - The Boulevard Saint-Germain. Gorgeous street with even better architecture, and beloved French doors. With big names in fashion you can stay and shop forever. Quick break is destined to be at Café de Flore. One street nearer to the Seine and you will find yourself at my personal favorites: Rue Jacob and Rue de Seine with great small shops, bookstores, open markets and many more. Don't miss it!

{Details} Retail Therapy...

Sheer boredom, coupled with my love of online shopping, led to a little splurge-fest recently... And since I worked from home yesterday, I was around when Mr. Postman came by to deliver the goods. No, not like that pervs, I'm talking about this adorable bag and these hot heels! Now truth be told, my dream animal-embossed bag is a little more Burberry than ASOS, but hey, I do what I can. And how cute are these ShoeMint pumps? My feet are officially ready to parrrtay.

{Life Log} Confessions of a Shopaholic...

My shopping ban has come and gone, and difficult as it was at times, I learned a thing or two along the way... So I guess in retrospect it was kind of a good thing— Kind of. No but seriously, I'm really glad I took a break long enough to appreciate my pre-existing wardrobe and all the things I can do with less.

The biggest thing I learned during my month of no shopping was that I spend waaaay too much money on clothes. And the more I buy, the more I seem to want to buy. It's a strange, vicious cycle, and half the time I don't even wear some of the things that come home with me... What's up with that? Seriously, the top I wore in this post was bought over five years ago and it had never been worn— It still had its tags!

Now don't get me wrong, I still love shopping as much as the next girl, I just don't want to mindlessly buy things because I think I should... That's just not healthy. Because in the age-old words of Carrie Bradshaw herself, "Why are we should-ing all over ourselves?" I think homegirl was on to something.

So here's to taking a step back and learning to love what we have... I know I will. xx

Pretty Pastels...

Today's outfit is brought to you by H&M, that wonderful neighbourhood mass retailer who always knows what I need... And in this case, what I needed happened to be a mint green dress. The moment I saw it I just knew it had to be mine, and couldn't wait to pair it with this blazer that I bought there last year... Can you say pastel heaven? Sigh.

Night Life...

To say that this has been an action-packed week would be a huge understatement, what with meetings, coffee dates, articles and brainstorming sessions taking up much of my time... But fret not, mon petites— it's not all work and no play for this girl! In fact, I was lucky enough to have been invited to a super-fun blogger night at local boutique-extraordinaire Bamboo Ballroom, as well as to the J.Crew launch party at the West Edmonton Mall... So much fun!

So without further ado, here's a look at the festivities as seen through Instagram... First up, Bamboo Ballroom!



The evening consisted of some fab bloggers getting together for some tasty treats, necklace-making with Bang Bang Bijoux, pampering (check out Kassie getting her makeup did!), and of course, shopping! Leopard print jeans, anyone?

Next up was the J.Crew launch party... Bloggers, media peeps and other coolio's congregated to the West Edmonton Mall to celebrate the store's much anticipated opening with hor d'oeuvres, vino and a little shopping. The gents were gifted dapper umbrellas on their way out (a timely gift considering it poured buckets all week), while the ladies recieved adorable leather clutches... Thanks, J.Crew!
