{Style} Pink Moment...

Although not normally my jam, I'm totally feeling pink and in a big way... Believe me, no one's more surprised than me. I don't know what it is, but all shades of this girlie-toned spectrum are now on the table and I'm not even mad. Seriously though, everything from the vibrant hue of this maxi dress, down to the perfectly pale pink of my new Olive + Piper necklace is now in heavy rotation, and I'm hooked... I guess I owe my pal Kastles — the eternal pink-lover — an apology.

Normally not a fan of Mondays, this one in particular is shaping up to be awesome because: 1. I'm in my hometown of Victoria this week (woot!) 2. It's my birthday today! and 3. I got some sweet new shoes from Sole Society! I don't think I've ever had a Monday that called for so many exclamation points! Anyways, highlights of said awesome Monday will include spending time with my parents, gallivanting with Mr. AiF and hitting up a 90's dance party with friends... I could get used to this. xx

{Style} Gossip Girl...

I had the pleasure of attending Lainey Gossip's Faculty of Celebrity Studies tour last night, and although I had no idea what to expect, it was actually a really good time. I'm not one for celebrity gossip, but the evening was actually filled with insightful analysis into gender roles, human behaviour and celebrity culture, all dished out in Lainey's signature, witty style. And although I'm in no rush to read about out who's dating who or what Amanda Bynes did wrong this week, I certainly appreciated a night of earnest discussion about gossip. xx

{Style} Derelict...

Over the weekend, Mr. AiF and I ventured to an abandoned motel on the outskirts of town (well, sort of) to shoot some photos and have some lolz. I love old, derelict buildings, and since we've been watching our fair share of X-Files lately, this spot in particular spoke to both of us (and believe me, that's rare).

I love how the run-down setting of this post contrasts my bright, spring-ready outfit, and we had a lot of fun shooting there even though it felt like Slender Man was right around the corner the entire time. Hey, anything in the name of fashion, right? xx

{Style} Coral Crush...

I've been super uninspired by my wardrobe lately, especially when it comes to marrying my desire for vibrant spring colours and prints with the fact that I still have a couple months of weather-related despair in my future... Le sigh. I tried perking myself up by concocting a medley of florals and polka dots — heck, I even threw in a pop of coral for good measure — but no dice. Looks like only time, or some unseasonal heat wave, can cure what ails me.

You can't really tell from these pictures, but shortly before these photos were taken I maimed myself making breakfast. It was like a tsunami-sized wave of scalding oil coming right at my unsuspecting hand... Not fun. But after Mr. AiF took me off pancake duty and kissed it better, I felt good as new. If you ask me, weekend wear should exclusively consist of oversized denim shirts piled with heaps of accessories. Simple, relaxed separates paired with a statement necklace and a great watch are all I need to get through the weekend — Well, that, and maybe a little Netfix-filled cuddle session... Wink wink.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is with great please that I present to you my very first denim on denim experience... Thank you, thank you. Now I know this is nothing new to many of you — and probably a source of contention to many more of you — but I am now officially on board the Canadian tuxedo express. I don't know what took me so long, but I'm feeling this look and in a big way. There's no easier way to play with layers than with a simple blazer and neutral tights... Once you've got those down, the rest is a cinch. Looking back at this outfit, I would have liked to incorporate a patterned sweater to up the layering ante, but there's no use dwelling on that now... Dang you, hindsight. xx
