As temperatures rise, I'm all about laid-back separates... The only trouble is when you find yourself wearing white, which inevitably leads to a day spent agonizing over if that skirt that looked so good in the bedroom mirror that morning is in fact see-through under in the blazing sun. {Style} Abandoned...

Road trips seem to always be ripe with abandoned-old-building-sightings, which are like catnip for fashion bloggers. That's why I forced Mr. AiF to make a pit stop in a tiny little town to snap pics in front of an old automotive shop. I mean seriously, peeling paint, dirty windows and creepy remnants of it's past life scattered about always makes for a killer backdrop, if not only in my head. But then again lots of things seem better in my head, like fondue or the pleather-pant incident of 2001.

As temperatures drop, I figure why not brighten things up with some good old fashioned pastels? They're cheerful, bright and super feminine to boot... Seriously now, just try and feel low when you're wearing pastels — I dare you!

Want in on a secret? I think I'm well on my way to shoe fetish-ville here, guys... Now I know you must be thinking So what, Vickie? but I'm telling you, it's a big deal for me. I've always been a purse junkie that's given little-to-no thought to her footwear, so this newfound shoe fascination is both scary (sorry bank account) AND exhilarating... I tell ya, it's like I'm a whole new person. *shrug*

Sometimes less is more, or at least that's what I like tell myself when I can't be bothered to do more than throw on a slouchy sweater over some skinnies... Hey, we're all friends here right? It's truth circle time. Notice the studded pumps and rhinestone necklace? That's how I cunningly convince the world that I care about my appearance when deep down all I want to do is curl up on the couch with my pajamas and a carton of ice cream. Well, at least the ice cream part is socially acceptable, right?

I live in a strange, anomaly of a city where it snows just as quickly as it melts, completely messing with your head when you're trying to get dressed in the morning. These photos were taken last week during a particularly warm period, however the very next day, mother nature flipped us the bird and dumped snow on our unsuspecting heads. A snow which, unfortunately, won't be going anywhere for the next six or so months... Not cool, Edmonton. Basically what I'm trying to tell you is enjoy these fall-ish photos while you can, because for the next few months all you're going to see here on AiF is snow, snow, snow... Consider yourselves officially warned.

Well it's official— Gingham is my new jam. I don't know what it is, but I can't seem to get enough of those little squares. It's no big secret that I'm a huuuuge fan of stripes— I mean seriously, can you think of a more versatile print? It's an all-season style that can be rocked just as easily in spring as it can come fall, which is precisely why I love it so. This particular dress is perfect for brisk days because it's lined, long sleeved and lovely... How's that for your daily dose of alliteration? Throw on a woven belt, breezy vest and a pop-o-colour cuff (nicely done, Joe Fresh!) and you've got yourself a fall-tastic look. Easy peasy.

Cropped...

I'm kinda a big fan of crop tops, especially when they hail from decades past... Nothing beats an original (sorry, American Apparel), so scouring the racks of my local Value Village becomes something of an olympic sport where crop tops are concerned. This one was a prized-find last summer, when I scooped it up for only a couple of dollars in Victoria. And with the weather being as lovely as it currently is, I couldn't think of a better item to thrown on with shorts... Let the sun shine. xx

I thrifted this clutch last summer in Victoria for only $2.99, and so far it's been an invaluable addition to my collection. It's super roomy and versatile, and it's vibrant colour livens up any old outfit... Just look at how many times I've worn it already!
