Back to monochrome

I've been trying to spruce up my outfits with some colour recently (in the hope it might make the weather warmer - evidently doesn't work) but today I opted for a simple black and white outfit. I've shown most of these items on my blog before (my shirt here and my skirt here) but my bag is something new. I bought it at a vintage fair a while back (£15, I think), thinking that it would be perfect for school. It's not actually big enough though so I haven't used it as much as I had hoped over the last year but I still don't regret the purchase. My skirt is from ebay. I've unfortunately managed to get oil paint all over it (skillful hiding going on here) which is impossible to get off so it's only really wearable when I'm wearing a jacket or with a bag now. I always seem to get paint all over my clothes (not unexpected as I'm an art student) but I still don't seem to have learnt my lesson and continue on wearing my usual clothes every day. My shoes have to be one of my best purchases at £25 in the Office sale. Although £25 is a fair amount (especially compared to Primark/New Look shoes) they're really comfy and have and will last a long time.

What do you think of my outfit? What have been your best purchases?

Floral Skirt

Anyone watch Eurovision last night? It was a pretty good show I thought (apart from a few questionable performances). 19th wasn't too bad for the UK, especially compared to last year's position. Did anyone else like Greece's Alcohol is free? and Azerbaijan's box thing they had going on?- my favourites!

Look at that, the monochrome/floral/crop top trends all in one! Sorry these aren't the best photos but my brother's annoying refusal to take them properly is the reason for this. I made the skirt on Wednesday. When I saw this fabric in the fabric shop I couldn't resist buying it - it's such a lovely print. I'm actually really pleased with this skirt as there's nothing much I can really complain about it (this almost never happens). I really like this style of skirt and its actually fairly quick to make (approx 2 1/2 hours) so I'll probably make a few more like this at some point. I bought the top with a New Look gift card I received for my birthday. I've never worn a crop top before (except when I was about 7 so that doesn't exactly count!) so I'm diving into new territory, but I like how easy it is to throw on and is perfect for the summer (if it ever decides to come!). I've paired the outfit with my New Look heels - can't really go wrong with them.

Contrasting

I'm currently mourning the loss of my phone (I can't find it anywhere) so I'm feeling a bit lost without it at the moment. However, excluding that, the first week back at school is going well so far - the sun definitely makes a difference!
Do you like my new garden scenery? It's certainly a change to the wooden wall I normally take photos up against. Also, it was rather windy while taking these photos hence my hair flying it different directions! So the skirt was from ebay (really cheap again - about £4). I adore the print and colours so much and I love how it contrasts with the black shirt (from ebay, also in this post).
